CONTINUING EDUCATION
Publication Date: Autumn 2000

Education has been a strong theme in this year's political campaigns, because America's future depends upon providing the best possible education to all of the children in our land. And education is a strong theme for the Council of New York Cooperatives & Condominiums.

EDUCATING MEMBERS
CNYC was established to help the boards of fledgling cooperatives learn their responsibilities and how best to function. Workshops, seminars, bulletins and Newsletters were CNYC's earliest resources for educating members. In 1981, the annual day-long Housing Conference was inaugurated. Co-op Roundtable, CNYC's cable television show was added in 1984, and on October 16, 1995 the CNYC Website was launched. Each innovation has enhanced CNYC's educational capabilities.

EDUCATING LAWMAKERS
With time it became apparent that to best serve its members CNYC needed to expand its educational efforts. Lawmakers needed to know more about housing cooperatives and condominiums, so CNYC reached out to government officials and their staffs and to legislators, with classes and question-and-answer sessions about cooperatives and condominiums. Clear, informative presentations and straight answers to all questions have made CNYC a trusted information source. This year, this month, elections will be held. Because many important issues will come before the State legislature in the next two years, a questionnaire was sent to every candidate for State Senate and for the Assembly, seeking their views on four key issues. This questionnaire is detailed on page 8 and the responses received are charted for your review.

CONTINUING EDUCATION
Twenty-five years after it came into being, CNYC continues to provide cutting-edge information and education to its members, to government officials, and to the public. At CNYC's 20th annual Housing Conference on Sunday, November 12, 2000, this tradition will continue. We look forward to seeing you there.
